Ultherapy® tightens the skin from the inside out – without surgery or downtime.
An expert panel of experienced aesthetic physicians has named Ultherapy® the Gold Standard* for non-surgical skin tightening2.
Ultrasound lifting with Ultherapy® for sustainable beauty tightening on the face, neck, and décolleté – without surgery and without damaging the skin surface. The perfect solution for those who cannot afford downtime, are not yet ready for a surgical facelift or want to bridge the time between aesthetic surgical procedures.
The power of micro-focused ultrasound.
As we age, the collagen and elastin content of the skin decreases, resulting in tissue becoming increasingly lax and losing firmness. Typical signs include for example:
- Drooping eyebrows
- Wrinkles on the face or décolleté
- Loss of contours on the chin or neck
Ultherapy® works from the inside out and can help slow down the signs of aging. The results gradually become visible and impress with a younger and more contoured appearance. Targeted heating in the deep layers of the skin stimulates the body’s production of new collagen.
The final results become visible over 3-4 months and impress with a younger and more contoured appearance. Results can continue to improve up to the 6th month. Depending on the condition of the skin and individual factors, additional aesthetic measures may be beneficial as combination treatments on a case-by-case basis.
Depth effect of Ultherapy® / ultrasound skin tightening
Before: Sagging collagen fibers
Treatment with Ultherapy®: The ultrasound energy acts at a depth of up to 4.5 mm
After: Lifting effects after approx. 6 months
As mentioned earlier, the skin sags due to the loss of collagen and moisture. To counteract this effect, external treatment such as creams is not sufficient. Treatment must penetrate the deeper layers of the skin. Unlike other methods, Ultherapy® treatment works in all skin layers, from the epidermis through the dermis to a depth of about 4.5 mm. The skin is stimulated by the treatment, and although an immediate effect is often visible, the true lifting effect occurs after 3-4 months.
The major difference between Ultherapy® and other HIFU devices is “Real-Time Visualization.” Ultherapy is particularly safe in application due to the patented visualization method called “DeepSEE.” Only here, imaging and treatment occur simultaneously using ultrasound. This real-time visualization allows us to work with exceptional accuracy and efficiency. This means that we can see exactly where we should treat at all times – a benefit not offered by any other treatment.

Ultherapy® is an innovative non-invasive treatment that allows you to effectively counteract the signs of aging in the face, neck, and décolleté. Microfocused ultrasound stimulates the body’s collagen production in the deep skin layers, which can otherwise only be achieved with a surgical facelift. The visible result is firmer skin. Since Ultherapy works in-depth and does not damage the skin surface, there is no downtime associated with Ultherapy.
Similar to other ultrasound procedures, a smooth ultrasound head is passed over the skin, creating an image on the monitor that allows the treating physician to precisely plan where the ultrasound energy should be released in the tissue. With the same ultrasound head, focused ultrasound energy can then be delivered into the designated tissue layers to generate the desired tightening effects.
In response to this energy, collagen regeneration is stimulated in your skin. The skin gradually becomes firmer and tighter, creating a natural lifting effect.
Before the ultrasound treatment, we can apply a numbing cream if desired. It needs to take effect for about 45 minutes, after which we will wash it off. Next, we mark the areas to be treated.
The actual treatment begins: We move the smooth ultrasound head over your skin according to a specific pattern. Simultaneously, we receive real-time images of the treatment area on the associated Ultherapy® monitor. Using these live images, we can accurately plan where the release of the ultrasound waves should occur. With the device, we can thoroughly examine all skin layers and adjust the treatment perfectly to your needs. This allows us to deliver focused ultrasound to the designated tissue layers.
Due to the high temperatures generated by the ultrasound, collagen regeneration is stimulated. As a result, a natural lifting effect occurs – without harming your skin.
The delivery of microfocused ultrasound energy sets tiny thermal coagulation points in the desired tissue layers, which you may perceive as temporary warmth.
The intensity of this treatment is individually perceived by each patient. If desired, we will take measures to make the treatment as comfortable as possible for you. For example, we can use an anesthetic cream to make the skin less sensitive in the relevant areas, or we can use pain medication to reduce overall pain sensation.
Patients usually feel well after the treatment and look forward to the expected results.
Often, a single treatment in our Munich practice is sufficient to achieve a satisfactory skin tightening effect. In some cases, we may recommend two treatments or a treatment cycle with multiple sessions. This depends on your starting point and your desires, as well as how your body responds to the therapy.
Ultrasound energy has been successfully used in medical diagnosis and therapy for over 50 years. Clinical studies have confirmed the safety of this advanced ultrasound application.
We have successfully performed a large number of Ultherapy® treatments in our clinic in Munich and trust in this treatment method.
Usually, you may notice slight redness in the treated area immediately after the treatment, but this should subside after a few hours. It is not uncommon for mild swelling to occur for a few days after the treatment or for the skin to appear more sensitive than usual for a few weeks.
Occasionally, there may be temporary side effects such as small bruises or local numbness, which we will monitor with you.
One treatment lasts between 30-90 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. We will discuss the exact course of treatment with you before the 1st treatment.
Many patients notice an immediate effect after treatment. This is initially only superficial, the skin then often already looks much plumper. After about a month, you can notice noticeably firmer and tighter skin. The improved firmness becomes visible after about three to four months, and the results can continue to improve until the sixth month.
Patients treated with Ultherapy® still have fresh, young collagen one year after the procedure.
However, the skin continues to age. Future refresher treatments can help keep up with the aging process, which is different for each individual.
Ultherapy® is a non-invasive procedure, so there is no downtime. You can return to your usual activities immediately after treatment. If we have given you pain medication, we will discuss any restrictions with you in advance.
Otherwise, no bruising or the like will be visible externally.
No. Unlike a facelift or other invasive solutions, Ultherapy® is a non-invasive procedure that reaches the lower layers of the skin without cutting or damaging the skin surface.
Ultherapy® is suitable for women and men who suffer from mild to moderate skin sagging – and who want a younger and fresher appearance entirely without surgery or injections. For ultrasound lifting in our practice in Munich, neither injections nor an anesthetic or scalpel are necessary.
The treatment is also something for people who do not want to take extended time off work and want to go about their daily lives and jobs normally after the therapy. Ultherapy is also suitable for anti-aging and wrinkle prevention.
Ultherapy® can be used regardless of skin color or type. The ultrasound procedure provides collagen stimulation – regardless of whether the skin is light or dark.
The treatment is suitable for the eyebrows, face, chin and neck area and décolleté. With ultrasound lifting, we can treat a sagging cheek, chin or neck area. Furthermore, small wrinkles around the eyes can be reduced and eyebrows can be lifted. In addition, the procedure is suitable for the treatment of sagging and slightly wrinkled skin on the neck and décolleté.
Ultherapy® can work very well against signs of aging in the eyes. With the treatment, we can achieve the following effects:
- Lifting the eyebrows
Eyebrows are also not immune to the aging process. With age, the elasticity of the skin decreases, in addition, the muscles of the forehead slacken. This leads to the fact that the eyebrows can sink at first laterally over the edge of the eyelids and later generally. This is how deep-set eyebrows develop. Ultherapy can help with this condition. The treatment stimulates the repair mechanism of the collagen fibers. When more collagen is produced on the brows again, it has a positive effect on this area. The eyebrows move back up, making your eyes look more open.
- Treat drooping eyelids
Ultherapy can also help with drooping eyelids. The upper eyelids can be tightened and lifted with the procedure. The treatment may well be an alternative to a surgical upper eyelid lift in some cases.
- Alleviate eye wrinkles
The procedure can also be used to reduce eye wrinkles such as crow’s feet and smile lines.

Ultrasound has been used in medical diagnostics for many decades. Low ultrasound waves with short pulses are used here. The waves scatter through the body or the examined body region (e.g. abdomen) and emit an echo. This is an image from inside the body.
But not all ultrasound devices are the same! By using stronger ultrasound waves with more energy as well as prolonged, specially focused pulses, it is possible to cause positive reactions in the skin.
Ultherapy® combines both ultrasound technologies: The procedure uses micro-focused ultrasound – at the same time, an imaging procedure is also used. This enables us to examine the different layers of the skin. In this way, we can target and deliver Ultherapy ultrasound waves to your “problem areas.”
In other ultrasound treatments, the pulses are often delivered “blindly” into the tissue. Thus, the treating physician often does not know where exactly the ultrasound waves are discharged. This can even result in injury to the nerve pathways.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is an American authority for food and drugs. The FDA is under the jurisdiction of the American health authority. Their focus is to preserve the health of the population by closely monitoring the production of food, medical products/procedures, and medications. This also applies to studies conducted on certain products. If these products pass the FDA’s scrutiny, there is a chance they can be marketed and used. The controls are strict, and FDA approval is meaningful and positive.
Ultherapy® was approved in 2009 as the first and only non-invasive method for eyebrow lifting, shortly thereafter for the entire face, neck area, and décolleté.
Ultherapy also holds the CE certification, making the method approved for the European market as well. Currently, the treatment is offered in more than 50 countries.
The traditional facelift is a surgical procedure where the surgeon makes targeted incisions to remove sagging skin and tighten both skin and tissue. Everything is then stitched up. You receive general anesthesia for the procedure. The surgery carries typical surgical and anesthesia risks, along with a recovery period where you must wear a facial brace.
Ultherapy®, on the other hand, is not a surgical procedure and doesn’t involve any minimally invasive activity. It is a non-surgical and hence gentler procedure. The final result develops gradually, making it less noticeable to outsiders that “something was done” – which is different from a facelift.
However, ultrasound lifting also has its limitations. It works best for mild to moderate skin sagging. If the condition is more severe, Ultherapy might not deliver the desired improvements. In such cases, a visit to a plastic surgery practice or clinic would be necessary if you desire a facelift.
The procedure is excellent for combining with other treatments to achieve a more intense result. Possible options include filler treatments with hyaluronic acid or injections with BTX. Fractional CO2 laser treatments are also conceivable. We offer all these treatments in our practice in Munich.
Depending on whether you decide on and are suitable for combination treatments, we can further define, highlight, and tighten your facial features. Which additional treatments are suitable for your case can be discussed in a personal consultation.
Collagen is a specific protein. It makes up almost one-third of the proteins in the body, making it one of the most common. When you examine collagen closely, it looks like a triple helix composed of amino acid chains. It forms strong fibers and is responsible for giving body parts shape and firmness. Hence, collagen is also referred to as a structural protein.
Collagen shapes elements like bones, cartilage, and teeth, but it’s especially crucial for the tensile strength and elasticity of connective tissue, making it a basis for the skin. It significantly influences its texture and appearance.
Collagen forms a framework that stretches over the skin, supporting it and preventing wrinkles. During the natural aging process, the body reduces collagen production. This can lead to the framework becoming unstable sooner or later. With weak collagen support, the skin loses tension, sags, and wrinkles form. Facial lines also become more pronounced, and the skin becomes drier.
There are many creams, serums, masks, and dietary supplements available in drugstores, supermarkets, and online shops. Many of them promise to stimulate collagen production, making the skin firmer again. However, these products are unfortunately not as effective as desired by women and men. The effect, if it occurs at all, is so minimal that it’s not visible to the naked eye. Moreover, these cosmetics and supplements must be used continuously for this small, superficial success to happen.
It’s different from aesthetic dermatology procedures. They target the depth of the skin and lead to internal tightening – achieved by stimulating collagen production at the site. One of these procedures is Ultherapy®, an ultrasound lifting. There are also other methods of collagen activation available in our private practice for dermatology and aesthetics in Munich: radiofrequency therapy ATTIVA®, radio/ultrasound treatment BTL Exilis Elite™, laser treatment, or the dermal filler Radiesse®.
