How does rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid work?
Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide, a type of complex sugar, that naturally occurs throughout the body: in bones, intervertebral discs, joint fluid, the vitreous humor of the eye, and in the skin.
Hyaluronic acid can bind large amounts of water. This makes it not only perfect for injections to treat wrinkles but also to perform corrections on the nose.
Bothersome imperfections and visual irregularities can be significantly reduced by injecting hyaluronic acid beneath the skin in specific areas of the nose. After the treatment, the nose appears more harmonious and attractive.
What imperfections can be addressed with this type of rhinoplasty?
In general, non-surgical rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid in Munich can address cosmetic flaws such as dents, asymmetries, or bony protrusions visible beneath the skin. Additionally, we can lift the nasal tip and smooth out humps on the nasal bridge. If a patient’s nose appears too wide, a slight augmentation of the nasal bridge can visually narrow it.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is suitable for the following nasal shapes:
- Saddle Nose
In this case, the nasal bridge appears sunken due to a lack of cartilage tissue. Hyaluronic acid can fill in this “dip.” After the treatment, the nasal bridge appears straighter. - Long Nose
A fundamental shortening of an overly long nose requires a surgical rhinoplasty. However, with hyaluronic acid, it can be concealed, making it appear less prominent in the face. This is achieved by injecting the nasal dorsum, causing it to lower and the nose to appear shorter. - Nasal Bridge and Nasal Tip
If a patient has small notches on the nasal bridge or tip, it doesn’t necessarily require surgery to correct them. With our form of non-surgical rhinoplasty, we can easily and quickly smooth out notches and dents. Additionally, the nasal tip can be slightly lifted using a combination of BTX and hyaluronic acid. Speaking of BTX, this can also be used to treat an annoying “flaring” of the nostrils. - Crooked Nose
If the nose is crooked and appears asymmetrical, we can achieve a balancing effect by injecting hyaluronic acid into the less pronounced side. After the injection, the nose appears straighter.
What are the advantages of non-surgical rhinoplasty?

Since the hyaluronic acid treatment takes only five to 15 minutes, it can be done on the go. There’s no lengthy preparation time required, and the patient isn’t inconvenienced afterward. They are immediately fit and socially presentable. - Immediate Results
After a surgical nose procedure, the healing phase begins. The body has to recover from the stresses of surgery, and the operated nose needs time to reduce swelling. Therefore, it takes several weeks or even months until the final results of a surgical rhinoplasty can be admired. This is different with non-surgical rhinoplasty: the results are visible immediately after the treatment. - No Surgical Risks
Surgical procedures always entail certain risks, such as the side effects of general anesthesia. These are absent in non-surgical rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid in our practice. Pain during the injection procedure can be minimized: upon request, we use local anesthesia and numb the injection sites with a special cream. This way, the patient hardly feels the injections. - Cost-Effective Treatment
A rhinoplasty performed by a plastic surgeon can be a significant financial burden, depending on the initial condition. However, hyaluronic acid treatment costs only a fraction of that.
What are the limitations of non-surgical rhinoplasty in our practice?
We recommend non-surgical rhinoplasty by injection when the patient’s distinctive nasal characteristics should be retained. In this case, the aim is a gentle correction of a minor physical flaw, not a permanent alteration of one’s type.
Patients should be aware that hyaluronic acid naturally breaks down in the body after about a year. To maintain the new nasal shape over the long term, follow-up treatments for refreshing may be necessary.
If problems extend beyond the aesthetic aspect, non-surgical rhinoplasty is not recommended. For example, this is the case when the nasal septum is deviated and it leads to nasal obstruction. Furthermore, very pronounced nasal deformities cannot be treated non-surgically in our practice. These require surgical intervention.
