As we age, the collagen and elastin content of the skin decreases, the tissues increasingly sag and lose firmness. Examples of typical signs:

Ultherapy® can help to stop the signs of time and works from the inside outwards in order to firm and lift the skin. Micro-focused ultrasound energy passes harmlessly through the skin tissue and works at a depth of up to 4.5 mm. This is the tissue layer that is typically tightened in a surgical facelift.
The skin reacts to this stimulus by producing new collagen and
elastin. The end result is visible over a period of 2 – 3 months and the younger and more contoured appearance will delight. The results may continue for improve up to the 6th month. Depending on skin condition and on individual factors, combined treatment with further aesthetic measures may be useful.

As mentioned before, the skin slackens due to the loss of collagen and fluid. To counteract this effect, treatment from the outside, e.g. with creams, is not sufficient. The treatment must penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. In contrast to other methods, Ultherapy treatment works in all skin layers, from the epidermis, through the dermis, to a depth of about 4.5 mm. The skin is stimulated by the treatment and an immediate effect is usually visible. However, the effect only fully unfolds over a longer period of time after the treatment. Thus, the actual lifting effect occurs after 3 – 4 months.
Real-Time-Visualization
The big difference between Ultherapy and other HIFU devices is the “real-time visualisation”. Ultherapy® is particularly safe to use due to the patented visualisation procedure “DeepSEE”. Only here is imaging and treatment carried out simultaneously by ultrasound. This type of real-time visualisation enables us to work particularly precisely and efficiently. Ultherapy® is an innovative non-invasive treatment that allows you to sustainably counteract the signs of time in the face, neck and décolleté. Micro-focused ultrasound stimulates the body’s own collagen stimulation in the deep layers of the skin that can otherwise only be reached with a surgical facelift. The visible result is firmer skin. Because Ultherapy® works in depth and does not damage the surface of the skin, Ultherapy® involves no downtime.
As with other ultrasound procedures, a smooth ultrasound probe is passed over the skin and creates an image on the monitor, which the treating doctor can use to plan exactly where the ultrasonic energy should be released within the tissue. The ultrasound probe can be used to direct focused ultrasound energy into the target tissue layers so as to generate the desired firming effect.
As a reaction to this energy, renewed production of collagen is stimulated in your skin. The skin gradually becomes firmer and more toned. It creates a natural lifting effect.
Patients treated with Ultherapy still have fresh, young collagen one year after the procedure.
However, the skin also continues to age. Future rejuvenation treatments can help to stop the ageing process steps that differ from one individual to another.
A treatment lasts between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the region treated.

Ultrasound energy has been successfully used for more than 50 years in medical diagnosis and treatment.

In our Munich clinic we have already successfully performed a large number of Ultherapy treatments and have confidence in this treatment method.
Delivery of micro-focused ultrasound energy creates tiny points of thermal coagulation in the target tissue layers, which you can perceive as a transient build-up of heat.
Each patient will feel the intensity of this treatment individually. If desired, we take measures to make the treatment as comfortable as possible for you. For example, we can use an anaesthetic ointment to make the skin insensitive at the affected sites or can decrease the overall sensation of pain by administering analgesics.
Patients usually feel good after the treatment and are happy about the results that are to be expected.
Normally you will notice slight redness of the treated area immediately after the treatment, but this should disappear after a few hours.
It is not unusual for slight swelling to be present for a couple of days after the treatment or for the skin to seem more sensitive to touch than usual for some weeks.
In rare cases, transient side effects such as small blue spots or local numbness may occur, which we will then monitor with you.
